WIP- Yamato main body by MrSide WIP- Yamato main body by MrSide
So a lot of work since the last release. (If I can call those releases)

I've made what I like to call the main structure. It was really hard to model due to contradictions in the references. There is still a lot of work to do, adding windows, structures, details but so far it looks pretty good and I wanted to post something to let you know I'm still alive and the project is going on.

Your comments are welcome, have a great day and a half,

All modeled and rendered in Blender

Nice model is coming out. Keep on the good work. I'd like to model Yamato, but time is so scarce...

Thanks! Yeah, it takes a lot of time, I think I've been working on that one for 3 months or so. Takes a lot of time. >.<

Yeah right.... Can you give me some of your motivation please?
Which program did you used? The shading effect are quite nice and i like all the litle ladders. ^^
I guess you had a lot of fun with the string part huh? :-S

2 thumbs up! ^.^

Hm... what do you mean by "motivation"?
If I understand the question correctly, the motivations behind this was to find the most complicated thing to model I could think of and replicate it with the greatest amount of detail I could in order to improve my modeling skills. I can say it worked. I am now much more at ease to approach complex modeling.

I used Blender to make this. That's the only program that was used. The shading effect was really simple to do and I too find that it gives nice result (which is the reason I like to use it^^). For the ladders, they were a pain in the ass to do but they give all the charm to the ship.XD Seriously, it looks naked without them.

For the ropes, surprisingly, they were reaaaally easy to do. For that I only used curves (like beziers curves but in 3d) and they did most of the job by themselves.

Thanks for your support!

This is wonderful, I can't tell you how wonderful.

I've long been fascinated by battleships and such, but couldn't get a good idea of how they were built from war films and such. This view makes it all very clear.

Superb modeling! Looks really good so far. What style of modeling did you use for this?

Like poly or spline type modeling.

Ho!

Almost everything is poly modeled. I always work with a subsurf/turbosmooth at level 2 to have nice curves with minimum meshing. Then I drop the view level to 0 and keep the render level to 2 to save on cpu power. I said almost everything because I do all the fences, ladders, ropes and some other details with splines/curves as I find them easier to edit.
